"Sol Rising" and Bronx Prep at Manhattan Children's Museum of the Arts

I recently celebrated the end of my tenth year at Bronx Prep by sharing the stage with one of my favorite artistic collaborators, Rebecca Bliss, her Afro Cuban performance group Sol Rising... AND my own students. We all came together for the Cuba Festival at Manhattan Children's Museum of the Arts and I got to experience the joy of performing alongside the students I've been working with over the past decade. We sang Afro Cuban call-and-response spirituals while Becky and her musicians and dancers fused traditional and contemporary forms of dance and movement. The kids wrapped up the show with a few snippets from "In the Heights," showcasing Becky's masterful choreography, much of which has its roots in the Afro Cuban tradition.

Loved sharing the stage with folks from so many overlapping worlds... professionals, students, friends, and colleagues representing such diverse talents and experiences. To see the beautiful pictures below up close and personal, click HERE.
